A visualized realization of something unrealizable.

My paintings express the beauty of energy generated when some presence moves towards something based on the concept over ‘how a wishing mind is expressed in ordinary life’. I am interested in the stream of consciousness formed in a social relationship and the culture of origin permeated in conventionality. My works contain a religious nuance and I am inspired by a variety of religious and underlying cultures.
The theme, I am studying now, is about consciousness to look at a possibility. I am expressing the cruelty coexisting in beauty by an abstract painting, which is an insinuation to the wild environment. I repeatedly grant meaning to my work both internally and externally, as a way to compose the image.

I believe that fundamentally, everything in the universe has a purpose. The movement of energy towards this purpose is potent. It connects us all and is tuned by the supreme rule (of the Universe). The reason why we human beings have a dream – the motivation of life – is perhaps because of this rule. The underlying theme of my work is a flow. A flow is a directional energy moving towards somewhere. Although I am unsure of where it is going to, or if there is any destination at all, the contemplation and searching during the process of making is also the work that I produce.

사람들의 ‘기원하는 마음이 어떻게 일상에 발현 되는가’에 대한 관심을 바탕으로 어떠한 존재가 무엇을 향해갈 때 발산되는 에너지의 아름다움을 페인팅으로 표현한다. 인과관계에서 형성되는 의식의 흐름, 통속에 스며든 기원의 문화에 관심이 있다. 작업에 종교적 뉘앙스가 있으며 다양한 종교의 근원적 문화에서 영감을 얻고 있다. 현재 탐구하고 있는 주제는 가능성을 바라보는 의식에 관한 것이다. 아름다움 속에 공존하는 잔혹함을 야생의 환경에 빗대 추상회화로 표현하고 있다. 작업의 내 외적으로 끊임없는 의미부여의 반복을 통해 화면을 구성해간다.

우주의 모든 것은 근본적으로 어떠한 목적을 갖고 있다고 생각한다. 목적을 향한 에너지의 움직임은 강렬하고 서로 연결되어 있으며 거대한 규칙에 의해 조율된다. 인간이 삶의 원동력인 꿈, 목표를 갖고자 하는 것도 이러한 규칙에 의한 것일 것이다. 작업을 아우르는 큰 주제는 ‘흐름’이다. 흐름은 어딘가 향해가는 방향성의 에너지이다. ‘흐름의 목적지점이 어디이다, 또는 없다’인지는 아직 모르겠지만 그것을 알아가는 과정에 대한 고민과 행위의 흔적자체가 작업이라고 생각한다.
